The Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2, also known as Air 2, are an update to the original Airdots, one of the first True Wireless headsets to be released to compete with the Apple AirPods. Since the launch of the AirPods, True Wireless headphones have dominated the market. It can be hard to find an affordable and reliable model, but this is exactly what the Xiaomi Mi Airdots Pro 2 offer.
These new Xiaomi headphones are very inexpensive and feature several improvements over the previous generation. The design is very similar to the AirPods, they integrate touch controls for playback and allow you to manage your virtual assistant. In addition, they have noise cancellation for calls. The best part: they are available for a very attractive price.

Design of the Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2
At first glance, the Xiaomi AirDots Pro 2 look just like the Apple AirPods or AirPods 3. They maintain the same minimalist style in white, and come with a plastic carrying case/charging base. The cups have metallic details on the outside, but are also made of plastic. Each earphone weighs only 4.5 grams and together with the case, a total of less than 60 grams. You have to take care of them so they don't get scratched, but the build quality is good and they look sturdy.
The cups of the Xiaomi Mi AirDots Pro 2 attach magnetically to the case and stay attached, even if you hold the case upside down. Both the cups and the charger have integrated LED indicators. They do not have any ornamentation, except for the Mi brand on the back of the case.
These Xiaomi headphones fit any user well and stay put. You can use the Xiaomi AirDots Pro while running or working out at the gym. They are IPX4 water and dust certified, so they can withstand sweat and raindrops without any problems. They feel comfortable and can be worn for long sessions without causing discomfort.
Touch controls and functions
The outer metal circle on the cups functions as an easy-to-use touch control panel. Double-tapping the right cup allows you to play or pause, and double-tapping the left cup activates the personal assistant. You can use the Xiaomi AirDots Pro to answer calls by simply double-tapping either earpiece.
Holding down the outside of the cups for about three seconds activates the noise cancellation technology (only effective for making calls). Both cups integrate two microphones for noise cancellation. Another very useful feature is that they have sensors that pause playback when you remove one of the XIaomi Mi AirDots Pro headphones.
When testing the XIaomi AirDots Pro, we noticed that the controls are very responsive, but limited. They do not allow you to manage the volume or change songs. You need to use your phone every time you want to change the volume or listen to another piece of music. It's a bit annoying, but it's not such a significant drawback considering the price.

Bluetooth connectivity
The Airdots Pro Xiaomi headphones work with Bluetooth 5.0 technology. When testing them we noticed that the connectivity is very stable and has a range of approximately 10 meters. The only negative is that they can only connect to one device at a time.
The wireless synchronization process is very simple. Pressing the button on the case for about five seconds will cause the LED light to start flashing. This means that they are ready to connect to your mobile device. Then you need to open the case, look for the list of Bluetooth devices, and it will appear with the name Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 or Air 2. Once the process is finished the LED light turns off and you can start using them.

Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2 sound quality
The Xiaomi True Wireless AirDots Pro 2 integrate 14mm dynamic drivers that offer a wide sound, especially for In-Ear headphones. Unfortunately, they do not support the aptX codec, although they can reproduce good quality sound wirelessly using the AAC codecs and LHDC . The latter allows a transfer three times higher than the SBC format. Airdots Pro preserves the original recording details and the profile is well balanced.
Bass is decent and handles treble remarkably well, even at very high volumes. They work with an impedance of 32 ohms, and all frequencies maintain a good presence. The vowels and main instruments stand out for their clarity. Bass is perceived to be deeper than the previous generation, and remains controlled. They provide a good base and strength without overshadowing the other shades. Another positive feature is that both cups can be operated independently.
They have noise cancellation for making calls, although it doesn't isolate you from external noise. If you need ANC technology you need to look for the best True Wireless, such as the Apple AirPods, Sony WF-1000XM3 or the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds. That said, they allow you to answer calls with remarkable clarity. Plus, you can control your favorite personal assistant.
Autonomy and charging system
According to the company, the Xiaomi AirDots Pro have an autonomy of five hours. When testing them we noticed that this is true when playing at 70% volume. However, this number decreases if you use maximum volume levels. On the other hand, the case provides you with additional charges so that you can use them for about 20 hours in total. Each cup has a 30mAh battery capacity and the case 250mAh.
They do not offer the best battery, although in this price range we cannot ask for more. The total charging process takes approximately 1 hour. In addition, 10 minutes of charging is enough to use them for more than 70 minutes. Both cups have an integrated LED indicator that informs you of the charging status. It lights up white when charging and turns off when the process is finished. The case also charges fully in 1 hour.

Conclusion on the Xiaomi Airdots Pro 2
These True Wireless headphones are very affordable and give you pretty decent sound quality. They are comfortable, fit any user well and offer very stable connectivity. They also feature noise cancellation for calls, IPX4 certification and can be used to manage your personal assistant.
Controls are limited. That said, they are very versatile headphones that you can take anywhere. If you're looking for AirPods-type headphones and don't want to spend a lot of money, the Xiaomi AirDots Pro are for you. Interested? Find the best prices on Amazon.
