What are the best Corsair headphones on the market?

If you’re an experienced gamer, you’re probably familiar with Corsair headsets. This brand is at the top of the gaming industry for the quality of their gaming gear, but headsets are the most outstanding products they offer.

Corsair headphones have great performance, innovative features, and the best part: they are very affordable. The company has three main lines of headphones, ideal for any budget and need. In this review, we analyze the best wireless and wired Corsair headsets in each line.

The best Corsair headsets of 2023

  1. Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT
  2. Corsair Void Elite RGB Wireless
  3. Corsair HS70 Pro
  4. Corsair Void Elite Surround Premium
  5. Corsair HS60 Pro Surround

Things to consider before choosing Corsair headphones

Before buying a Corsair gaming headset, you need to take certain aspects into account. Most Corsair headsets are very easy to use, but there are so many models and you need to find the ideal one for you. To do this, you must consider your budget and the platform on which you want to use them.

What is your budget?

The first and easiest thing to consider is how much money you are willing to spend. The good thing is that most Corsair headphones are affordable. They usually do not have Bluetooth connectivity, and are designed for use with computers or consoles, but Corsair gaming headsets are good value for money.

What is your platform for playing?

Another important aspect to consider when choosing a Corsair headset is whether you need it for consoles or computers. If you only play with consoles, you don't need a model that offers a lot of features through the Corsair iCue application, as they are made for computers.

You can't enjoy the 7.1 surround sound offered with consoles, but you don't need to spend extra money either. It's also important to check hardware compatibility. For example, the Xbox One doesn't support USB connections.

What do you need to know about Corsair iCue?

Corsair wireless or wired headsets designed for PCs connect with Corsair iCue. This application serves as a control center for all the brand's products, and offers many optimization and customization options and advanced features. If your new Corsair headset supports surround or spatial sound, you need iCUe to turn these features on.

Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT

Pros

Excellent microphone, Bluetooth and aptX, connectivity options, build quality.

Cons

Expensive.

Technical Characteristics:

  • Compatible with: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch.
  • Connectivity: Wired and wireless (2.4 ghz and Bluetooth).
  • Battery life: 22 hours.
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz-40,000 Hz.

Design:

The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE were one of the top gaming headsets to appear in 2019, and this upgrade is more versatile. The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT headset offers all the positives of its predecessor, and adds Bluetooth connectivity as well as new features, thanks to the new version of Corsair iCue.

If you are familiar with previous Corsair Virtuoso headphones, this model will look familiar. The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT look the same as the SE, although they have a slightly darker finish. They are made almost entirely of metal, with an aluminum band and memory foam pads wrapped in leather.

The quality of construction is excellent. They are heavy, but feel comfortable. The weight adds security to the fit. They can cause some fatigue in prolonged sessions, although it's not so bothersome. The band has a good range for adjustment, and the cups rotate for easy carrying.

The right cup integrates a switch to change between wired/wireless audio modes, and a potentiometer for volume. They also feature controls for Bluetooth connection, volume and a multifunction button. The microphone mute button is located on the removable mini USB microphone resting on the left cup.

Connectivity:

To get the most out of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT headphones, you need to use the iCue app. With the app, you can equalize the sound with eight different settings, or create your own with a 10-band equalizer. You can also adjust the microphone monitoring and control other useful functions.

The application also allows you to update the firmware of the Corsair Virtuoso headset and USB wireless adapter. Another useful feature for the wireless adapter is the option for multiple connection with 2.4 gHz technology. This means you can synchronize multiple devices with the same adapter, using Corsair Slipstream 2.4 gHz technology.

Unlike the previous Corsair Virtuoso, the XT doesn't support 7.1-channel virtual sound, like most gaming headsets released after the latest consoles. That said, the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT are Dolby Atmos compatible.

In addition, they offer more connectivity options than any other pair of gaming headsets. The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT wireless headsets come with a USB wireless adapter to connect to PC or PlayStation, and support wired audio with USB-C or 3.5mm connections, so you can also use them with platforms such as the Nintendo Switch or Xbox.

This new version also works with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. AAC, SBC, aptX and aptX HD codecs are supported, which is unusual for gaming headsets. The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT are the most versatile model we have tested.

Battery

The battery of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT wireless headset yields up to 15 hours according to the company, although when testing it, we noticed that the capacity increases to about 22 hours with a volume of about 75dB. It's one of the best autonomies among gaming headsets.

Performance:

The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XTs can be a bit tiring on long sessions, but they offer great sound quality. They support Dolby Atmos surround sound and PlayStation 5 3D audio. Basically, you can use them on any platform, and they offer great performance.

Beyond surround sound, these Corsair wireless headphones perform well for playing any game or music. The audio profile is balanced enough to enjoy any genre of music, and all tonalities are perceived with good details. The bass is not the strongest, although you can equalize the sound to your personal taste.

According to the company, the microphone on the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT offers ideal transmission quality. It doesn't sound as good as a separate USB microphone, but it's as good as the best on the market.

Conclusion:

To summarize, the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT wireless headset is one of the best on the market, if not the best. The audio is very decent, the connectivity options are unique, the build quality excellent, and they are easy to use. Interested? Find the best price on this link.

Corsair Void Elite RGB Wireless

Pros

No lag, faithful microphone, cool lights, comfortable.

Cons

Lights consume a lot of battery power

Technical Characteristics:

  • Compatible with: PC, PS4 and mobile devices.
  • Connectivity: 2.4 gHz wireless.
  • Battery life: 16 hours.
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz-30 000 Hz.

Design:

The Corsair Void Elite RGB Wireless is the top model in a line popular for its attractive, affordable, and performance-enhancing headsets. They look like a gaming headset at first glance, with color-changing LED lights, a boom microphone and an angular design that catches the eye.

The build quality is good for this price range. They have a sturdy metal structure and high quality ear cushions. The band adjusts easily to any user. That said, we found them a bit loose, and therefore did not get a consistent seal to isolate us from external noise.

They are very comfortable, however. You can use the Corsair Void Elite RGB Wireless for hours without any discomfort. The pads are covered by a flexible fabric, ideal if you wear glasses. They are a little heavy, but the padding is sufficient to avoid pressure.

The Corsair Void Elite Wireless RGBs integrate controls on the cups to mute the microphone and manage the volume. You can mute the microphone by simply moving it up, but it's nice to have the extra option.

Connectivity:

As the name suggests, the Corsair Void Elite RGB Wireless headsets work with wireless connectivity thanks to a 2.4 gHz USB RF adapter. They are compatible with PC, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo, although Xbox do not support most USB connections. They are very easy to use, and the wireless range is much wider than Bluetooth connectivity.

One thing we regret is that they don't have a 3.5mm auxiliary port for wired use. The Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless headset comes with the wireless adapter, a micro-USB charging cable and a protective microphone tip.

On the other hand, through the application you can customize and coordinate the lights of the Corsair Void Elite Wireless, observe the battery level, activate the surround sound mode and other useful functions.

Battery

Corsair claims that the battery life reaches 16 hours on a single charge, although when testing them we noticed that it performs even better. At medium-high volumes, we were able to use them for more than 17 hours. However, turning on the LED lights drains the battery much faster.

Performance:

Playing with the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless is a good experience. Surround sound works great in PC games, such as OverWatch or Fortnite. We don't know what codec these Corsair wireless headsets use, but they work well. Unfortunately, to enjoy surround audio you need to use the app, and it's not available on consoles.

The sound profile is well balanced. You can hear all the effects loudly and the vocals remain clear. Mid-tones are emphasized, and this makes it easier for you to hear sounds such as footsteps. The application also allows you to choose between different equalization settings.

The microphone on the Corsair Void RGB Elite Wireless is very decent for this price range for its fidelity. If you're looking to record podcasts you need a higher quality external microphone, but its performance is very decent. However, some very low voices may sound a little distorted.

Conclusion:

They are a good choice in this price range. They are comfortable, durable, offer good sound and have an attractive modern design with lights. The battery is also quite good. They don't insulate you from sound very well, but they perform well for what they're worth. Follow this link to find the best price.

Corsair HS70 Pro

Corsair HS70 Pro
Pros

Audio quality, comfortable and resistant.

Cons

Poor noise isolation, no auxiliary port for wired use.

Technical Characteristics:

  • Compatible with: PC, PS4 and mobile devices.
  • Connectivity: Wireless 2.4.
  • Battery life: 16 hours.
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz-30 000 Hz.

Design:

The Corsair HS70 Pro looks very similar to the Corsair HS60. This is a sober gaming headset with no frills or LED lights. They are designed for performance, and the build quality is one of the best among Corsair headsets. The band is decorated with the brand name in bas-relief, and the cups with the logo.

The headband has abundant viscoelastic soft foam padding, and is reinforced with metal. The cups rotate a little, but not much. You can easily adjust the headband to nine positions, and use them for long sessions without discomfort.

On the left cup, we find volume control, microphone mute switch, LED indicator light and USB connector. On the right is the on/off button.

They have a removable microphone, something we appreciate. The microphone connection is a 3.5mm jack, and is reinforced to ensure durability. It's a unidirectional microphone, and attenuates ambient noise well. You can also add a filter to attenuate it even more.

Connectivity:

These Corsair headsets work with a USB wireless adapter that allows you to connect them to PCs or a PS4. The adapter is shaped like a small flash drive. To use them, you only need to plug the adapter to the console or computer. Once connected, turn on the headphones and a light will illuminate indicating that they are active.

In order to enjoy the full capabilities of these wireless Corsair headphones, you must download the iCUE application from the company's website. With the application, you can use the 7.1 surround sound function, equalize the sound and access other functions.

Battery

In terms of battery life, they provide up to 16 hours of continuous playback, although at medium volumes they perform a little better. Chances are you will only need to charge it a few times a week.

Performance:

They integrate 50mm neodymium transducers that perform very well. We tested them and noticed a lot of power. In addition, all frequencies sound clear, separate and with good detail. Bass sounds deep, but all tones maintain a good presence.

The microphone performs remarkably well. It doesn't compare to external PC microphones , but voices come through clear and full. You can use these Corsair wireless headphones with any platform to communicate, such as Discord, Zoom, Skype, etc.

The V-shaped sound profile emphasizes bass and treble. These Corsair headphones are not the most faithful or neutral, but they are perfect for gaming.

Conclusion:

Like the HS60, the Corsair HS70 Pro offers great performance for an attractive price. They are comfortable, robust, and sound good. The microphone and battery are quite good, and you can equalize the sound to your personal taste. Find the best price on this link.

Corsair Void Elite Surround Premium

Corsair Void Elite Surround Premium
Pros

Quality of construction, equalization with the application, low latency.

Cons

The microphone may distort a little.

Technical Characteristics:

  • Compatible with: PC, PS4 and mobile devices.
  • Connectivity: Wiring.
  • Battery: – .
  • Frequency response: 20 Hz-30 000 Hz.

Design:

This model is the wired version of the Corsair VOID RGB Wireless. The Corsair VOID RGB Elite headset maintains the same futuristic wireless shape and build quality. They also integrate RGB lights that you can synchronize with the company's iCue application. They come with a non-removable microphone, so they are immediately recognizable as a gaming headset.

They are quite comfortable and resistant. They are made of hard plastic, and the flexible headband is made of aluminum. The memory foam pads have a breathable microfiber finish that feels great to the touch.

You can wear them for hours without significant discomfort. The quality of construction is good. However, the microphone seems a bit fragile, and the fact that you can't remove it is a negative.

Connectivity:

The Corsair VOID Elite features easy-to-use controls. They feature a microphone mute button and a multi-function wheel that allows you to operate all other functions, such as changing the volume or saved equalization settings. Pressing and holding the wheel also activates the surround sound function.

These wired headphones are compatible with the iCUE application, with which you can access different audio settings, the microphone, a graphic equalizer, the virtual surround sound function and the menu to customize the RGB lights to your liking. Unfortunately, it's not compatible with macOS systems, although these computers are not typically used for gaming.

Performance:

They integrate 50mm neodymium transducers, and work with a wide frequency response of 20-30kHz. They also offer 7.1 virtual surround sound, but only using a PC. In terms of sound quality, the bass is emphasized, to amplify the effects of the games. However, if you do not like the profile, you can equalize it with the settings offered by the application.

The frequency response of the Corsair VOID RGB Elite is consistent. Bass fidelity is decent in the lower frequencies, and emphasizes high bass. That said, performance depends on the fit you achieve with the Corsair headphones. The mids sound very clear, and the treble is really remarkable.

The quality for recording with the microphone is fine, although it's not the best. Vocals sound clear, full and natural. However, it can generate distortion in some very low voices, although most users will not notice it.

Conclusion:

This model has a good vale for money. The Corsair VOID RGB Elite headsets can only be used wired, and are not as versatile as headsets that come with wireless or wired connections. Nevertheless, they offer good performance for a very attractive price.

The application offers you good functions, the design is attractive and the sound is quite decent. They do not insulate you from ambient noise very well, but they are a good option. Follow this link to find the best price.

Corsair HS60 Pro Surround

Pros

Good sound and build quality, great microphone.

Cons

They are not wireless.

Technical Characteristics:

  • Compatible with: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch and mobile devices.
  • Connectivity: Wiring.
  • Battery: – .
  • Frequency response: 20Hz – 20kHz.

Design:

The Corsair HS60 Pro gaming headset has a sober black design. They are not the most futuristic or flashy model, but the build quality is good for the price. They come with a good quality removable microphone, and are compatible with any equipment thanks to wired connectivity.

Embellishment-wise, they only feature the company logo on the outside of both cups. These Corsair headphones have large cups? and are comfortable. They are not very portable as they do not have a folding structure, but you can still use them outdoors, as you can store the microphone.

The band and cups feature memory foam padding that feels very soft to the touch. You can wear them for hours without pressure or discomfort, a major improvement over previous models in the line. However, they can be a bit uncomfortable for people with very large heads.

Connectivity:

They integrate a volume control on the left cup, as well as a microphone mute button. They also feature a microphone input and cable. For connection, they use a 3.5mm gold-plated jack that allows you to use it with any device. However, surround sound is only available for PC.

Performance:

These Corsair headphones don't offer the sublime sound of more expensive models, but they do offer great gaming performance. The 50mm drivers deliver powerful sound, with strong, deep bass that doesn't distort. Effects such as explosions sound very good, and directionality is well achieved.

We like the stereo mode better than the virtual 7.1-channel surround sound. The 7.1 mode generates some unnecessary effects, and the bass reverberates. Likewise, they are not ideal for playing music. They are designed as a gaming headset, and this is noticeable in the V-shaped sound profile. The audio is not neutral or faithful, although it's perfect for gaming.

On the other hand, the microphone is remarkable for this price range. You can use these Corsair headsets to make Skype, Discord or Zoom calls with great clarity. When testing them we were told that our voices always sounded crisp, if a bit low.

Conclusion:

You can find many cheap and decent gaming headsets, among which are the Corsair headphones. The Corsair HS60 Pro, the upgrade to the popular HS60, occupies a special place. They are affordable, comfortable, have good build quality and offer good performance. Find the best price on this link.
